Introduction
An exhaust tip diameter chart can help you narrow down choices, but it should not replace measuring your actual pipe. Even within the same car model, bumper trim, aftermarket exhaust, regional version, or previous owner modification can change the required size.
Use the chart below as a starting point, then compare with Kipalm Single Tips, Dual-tips, and BMW Exhaust Tips.
Common exhaust tip size reference
The following ranges are general references for shopping and content planning. They are not final fitment data.
- Small compact cars: common inlet range about 45-55 mm; outlet often 63-76 mm.
- Sedans and coupes: common inlet range about 51-63 mm; outlet often 76-89 mm.
- Sport sedans and BMW-style builds: common inlet range about 60-70 mm; outlet often 89-101 mm.
- SUVs and larger rear bumpers: common inlet range about 63-76 mm; outlet often 89-114 mm.
- Dual or quad outlet styles: check width and pipe spacing, not only diameter.
Why the chart is only a starting point
A chart cannot see your actual car. If the rear bumper has been changed, if the exhaust was repaired, or if the old tip was welded on, the real size may be different. Some cars also have oval or irregular pipes, which cannot be confirmed with a simple round-diameter chart.
How to measure correctly
Measure the outside diameter of the pipe that the new tip will slide over. If there is an old cover, remove it or measure the pipe underneath if possible. For a round pipe, calipers are best. For a quick estimate, measure the circumference and divide by 3.14. For oval pipes, measure height and width separately.
Outlet diameter is about appearance
A 63 mm inlet and an 89 mm outlet can fit a pipe while creating a larger rear look. A 101 mm outlet may look aggressive, but it must clear the bumper. On BMW-style builds, outlet shape and position matter as much as diameter.
Check length and width
Some product pages give more than one size. The Kipalm forged carbon fiber exhaust tips product lists inlet, outlet, length, and width, which is the kind of information buyers should compare before ordering. For model-specific products, also check chassis and year notes.
FAQ
Q: Can I buy exhaust tips by vehicle model only?
A: It is risky. Use model information to narrow the search, but measure your actual pipe before buying.
Q: What if my pipe is slightly smaller than the tip inlet?
A: A clamp may handle a small difference, but too much gap can cause looseness. Ask for advice before ordering.
Final advice
Save your measurement photos. A clear rear photo, side photo, and pipe close-up make fitment support much easier. If unsure, send them through Kipalm Contact Us before purchase.
